Everton eye a move for £15million-rated Buccaneering Dutchman: A top option for Rafa?

Everton could reportedly make a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch full-back has been with the club since 2018, having joined from Heerenveen, and has gone on to become the club captain.

Liverpool Echo have claimed that Everton are interested in bringing the 25-year-old to the club on a loan deal. PSV Eindhoven reportedly want a fee of around £15 million for the Dutchman.

Dumfries has made over 120 appearances for PSV in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and assisting 20 times. He is a Netherlands international and has made 23 appearances since his debut in 2018. The Dutchman has two years remaining on his current deal at the club.

Denzel Dumfries to Everton – A top option for Rafa Benitez?

Everton had a tough pre-season as they did not hit their stride under new manager Rafa Benitez. The Spanish manager has so far been able to sign just two players – wingers Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray.

Right-back is one area where Everton need reinforcements as club Captain Seamus Coleman has not been able to replicate his past form in recent seasons. Everton have a top-class left-back in Lucas Digne, but the right side doesn’t have the pace and attacking intent that modern full-backs tend to have.

Denzel Dumfries could remedy that problem as he is one of the most exciting full-backs in Europe.

The Dutchman was in splendid form for his country at Euro 2020, proving to be one of the Netherlands’ biggest threats in the attacking third. The 25-year-old is a strong and powerful runner with the ball, capable of moving swiftly from one end of the pitch to the other.

Dumfries averaged 1.4 key passes per game for PSV last season, which is excellent for a full-back. The Dutch full-back is capable of playing as a right-back or further up field as a right-sided midfielder, or even as a wing-back, which is where he played for the Netherlands at Euro 2020.

He is also solid defensively, using his strength and speed to close down opposition attackers and make key interceptions. He averaged 1.6 interceptions and 1.5 tackles per game in the Dutch league last season.

Dumfries would be a very good addition to the Everton side as he is capable of contributing defensively and offensively. He is a player that will excite fans and could fit perfectly in the Premier League thanks to his energy and power.
