Leeds United Eyeing A Swoop For £10m Rated Turkish Midfielder: Should Bielsa Go For Him?

Leeds United are keen on signing young attacking midfielder Orkun Kokcu, who currently plays for Feyenoord. The 20-year-old has come through the ranks at the Dutch side and has made 70 appearances for the club.

As per La Razon (via Leicester Mercury), several clubs apart from Leeds are interested in Kokcu, including the likes of Leicester City and Sevilla, while Arsenal were interested in him previously. The report says that the youngster would be available for a fee of around £10 million.

Kokcu was born in the Netherlands but represents Turkey internationally, having made his debut last year. His current contract with the Dutch club expires in 2025, with the player having signed a new deal last year.

Orkun Kokcu: What will he add to the team?

Orkun Kokcu is an attacking midfielder who can play as a No. 10 or as an attacker in a midfield three. The 20-year-old is a player with a lot of flair who can make defence-splitting passes, control the tempo from midfield, but also run with the ball from the middle of the park.

Kokcu has averaged 1.9 shots per goal this season while making 1.6 key passes per game in the Dutch league.  In 70 games that he has played for Feyenoord, the 20-year-old has scored 9 goals and provided 12 assists.

The youngster could be a decent addition to several Premier League teams as he has the guile and creativity to fashion chances, while also being a hard-working midfielder. Leeds United would benefit from the addition of a player like Kokcu, perhaps as a long-term replacement for their star attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez.

Hernandez has been a key player for Leeds over the last few seasons, but injuries and age have caught up with him, and the Whites are unlikely to retain him for much longer now. Orkun Kokcu is capable of playing in the positions that Hernandez has operated in, be it as an attacking midfielder or a central midfielder. The youngster has huge potential, and at just 20 years of age, he could develop into a top-class player under the guidance of Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa.

A price tag of £10 million seems like a steal for a young attacking midfielder, and Leeds should bring him in at that price.
