Leeds United continued their dazzling start to the new season in the Championship after they clinched a thumping 3-0 win over Preston North End at the Elland Road yesterday.
Liam Cooper gave the home side the lead in the first half and in the second half, a brace from Tyler Roberts took the game away completely from Alex Neil’s entourage.
Here are our Leeds United player ratings from their win over Preston North End.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell 7/10
The custodian made a decent save early in the game to deny Callum Robinson from finding the back of the net. His distribution was good and the clean sheet will do a world of good for his morale.
Luke Ayling 7/10
Initially, Ayling struggled to make his presence felt. However, he put in a commendable performance after he found his feet and linked well with Kalvin Phillips and Jack Harrison.
Pontus Jansson 9/10
Thoroughly resilient at the heart of Leeds United’s back line, Jansson was arguably at his best. He made many important interceptions, read the attacking endeavours of the opposition brilliantly and brought the ball out really well.
Liam Cooper 7/10
Cooper put in a solid display alongside Pontus. The skipper scored the opening goal of the game with a header from a corner.
Barry Douglas 7/10
It was a decent outing for the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man as he was industrious and productive down the left.
Kalvin Phillips 8/10
Phillips dominated the midfield and controlled the tempo of the game with his vision and passes. It was indeed a very assured display from him.
Jack Harrison 9/10
It was arguably his best game for the Yorkshire based outfit. Offensively, he was a constant threat and the PNE defenders could not put a lid on him.
Samu Saiz 8/10
Saiz was, more often than not, able to take the ball into the dangerous areas and he created a couple of big chances for his teammates. His form will be a massive boost in the coming weeks.
Mateusz Klich 7/10
Although his shooting let him down, he excelled in the final third. He also set up Roberts’ second goal.
Ezgjan Alioski 6/10
There was no lack of effort from Alioski but the output was missing. He struggled to cross the ball into the right areas.
Tyler Roberts 9/10
It was a confidence-boosting outing for the striker as he not only bagged a brace but also showed a lot of confidence. He was tidy, clinical and looked sharp up top.
Stuart Dallas: NA
Replaced Roberts in the 86th minute.
Adam Forshaw: NA
Forshaw came on for Klich.
Lewis Baker: NA
Baker had a small cameo in the final minutes of the game after he came on for Saiz.
