Chelsea has been offered the chance to sign Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala, as the Bianconeri look to shake up their squad this summer.
As per Daily Star, Juventus are willing to get rid of the 27-year-old and have offered him to Chelsea as well as their London rivals Tottenham. The report claims that Juventus will demand a fee of around £40 million for Dybala in the summer.
The Argentine has made over 240 appearances for the Italian club, racking up nearly 100 goals and 40 assists for the club. His current contract with Juventus expires in 2022, having signed his last deal with the club in 2017.
Should Chelsea make a move for Paulo Dybala?
Paulo Dybala was regarded as one of the most talented attackers in world football a few years ago, but his form has waned over the last few years and he hasn’t progressed much.
He didn’t find much game time under former manager Maurizio Sarri, and has once again been used sparingly this season, playing just 16 times in all competitions.
It’s quite clear that he doesn’t have a future at Juventus and could be on the move in the summer as the Italian giants would not want to lose him on a free transfer.
Dybala is a quick and clever player, who can play several roles and positions in attack. He can play off the striker or as an attacking midfielder, or even as a false or the lone forward, while also playing off the wing.
The 27-year old is a good crosser and dribbler of the ball, and at his best, could create a lot of chances in the final third. But, Dybala may not be a good fit at Chelsea, especially considering the poor form that he has been on over the last few years.
What Chelsea need next season is a strong, goal-scoring centre-forward, like Erling Haaland. Dybala is not the kind of player that can hold the ball up against centre-backs or even play on the shoulder of the last defender.
The Blues also have far too many options in attack, be it out wide or in the No. 10 position. The likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech can all play in the wide areas or behind the striker – which is where Dybala predominantly plays.
A move for Dybala should not be on the cards for Chelsea as he may not add much to the Blues squad and doesn’t fill the gaps that Chelsea have presently.
