Alexander-Arnold to Start: Team News and Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Midtjylland

Liverpool will play their final group game of the Champions League away from home against FC Midtjylland tonight, and will hope to finish on a high.

The Reds put on a scintillating show against Wolves on Sunday, but we could see a much-changed Liverpool lineup against the Danish side. Jurgen Klopp will want to keep the key players fresh for the away trip to Fulham next Sunday.

Liverpool confirmed qualification and will finish as finish top of Group D regardless of what happens against Midtjylland. The game will be an opportunity for some of the fringe players to impress.

Liverpool Team News

The big news is that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain trained with his teammates, but tonight’s game comes too early for the England international. Naby Keita and Trent Alexander-Arnold played in Liverpool’s win against Wolves, and are in line to get some playing time against Midtjylland, if they don’t make the starting Liverpool lineup.

Alisson Becker is still unavailable, but he isn’t far from returning and revealed on social media that he will be back soon, possibly for the clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Goalkeeper

Caoimhín Kelleher has been impressive in the last two games, and hasn’t made the Liverpool fans miss Alisson too much with his solid displays in goal. He should once again keep his place in the Liverpool lineup.

Defence

Young Billy Koumetio is in line to play, and we could see the Frenchman alongside Fabinho at the heart of the Liverpool defence. Kostas Tsimikas and Trent Alexander-Arnold should play as the two full-backs.

Tsimikas has had bad luck with injuries and Covid19 so far, and will hope to put in a solid display and push Andy Robertson for the left-back position.

Midfield

Curtis Jones has done exceedingly well in the Liverpool midfield, and his energetic displays have helped Liverpool amidst the injury crisis.

The Scouser should keep his place, and we could see Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson complete the midfield three in the Liverpool lineup.

Attack

It’s highly unlikely that we will get to see the usual Liverpool front three in the Liverpool lineup. Takumi Minamino might take Roberto Firmino’s place in the middle, while Diogo Jota and Divock Origi could start on the wings.

Minamino is yet to really convince in a Liverpool jersey, so this dead-rubber game will be an important one for the Japanese international. Origi needs to step up as well.
