Liverpool Asked To Pay At Least £25m For Wing Wizard: What Will He Bring To The Team?

Watford’s relegation could see a number of first-team stars leave Vicarage Road, and one of them is Ismaila Sarr, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

According to Watford Observer, Liverpool are set to open talks for the Senegalese international, who could cost over £25million, the amount the Hornets paid for him just a year ago.

Sarr was impressive in bursts for Watford, but is this a deal Klopp should make?

Shopping from the fallen

The Reds don’t shy away when they have the need to spend big, but the secret to their recent success is their ability to attract quality on the cheap and turn them into superstars.

Previously, Klopp spent on the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and even Andrew Robertson, just weeks after they were relegated from the top flight.

The Reds are also looking at options from Norwich City, but Watford’s Sarr seems to be a perfect fit for the requirements at Anfield.

The 22-year old registered eight goals and six assists in his final Ligue 1 season, and managed five goals and four assists in his first season in England, which was a decent return in a struggling team.

Sarr is an excellent dribbler with decent pace and ball control. He is hard to mark on the wing and can be devastating if afforded space and time on the ball in the final third.

His willingness to defend was evident in the support he provided Watford’s full-backs all season, and his energy on and off the ball make him a player easy to coach for Klopp.

What will Ismaila Sarr bring to Liverpool?

Klopp has Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as his first choice attackers, and Sarr is not expected to replace them. But Liverpool do not have the ideal back for their wingers.

The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and even Naby Keita have played on the wings along with Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri. None of those names are natural wingers, and Sarr could be first in line to replace Mane and Salah in the first team.

He may be a tad expensive, but he has certainly shown enough promise to find himself a place in the squad under Jürgen Klopp.

The Reds have missed out on Timo Werner and could also see Jadon Sancho join Manchester United in the next few weeks. But Klopp’s side do not need such high profile transfers at the moment, making this deal for Sarr a real game-changer.

Watford need to sell to raise their income so Liverpool could even play hardball and snap Sarr off on the cheap.

Do you think he is the right man for Liverpool?

helpful than ever before.
