Leeds United Eye A £20m Transfer For 2.Bundesliga Goal-Getter: A Good Move By Bielsa?

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated young striker Nicolas Gonzalez, who currently plays for Stuttgart.

The 22-year-old Argentine has been at the German club for two seasons, having joined the side from Argentinos Juniors in 2018.

As per Mirror Football, the newly-promoted Premier League side could make a bid of around £20 million for the striker, who racked up 15 goals in 29 games in all competitions in the 2019-20 season.

The report says that Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa wants to sign a striker, but, there are several clubs interested in the 22-year-old, with the likes of Roma, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Lazio keen on him.

The forward’s contract with Stuttgart expires in 2023.

Nicolas Gonzalez to Leeds United – A smashing move by Bielsa?

Nicolas Gonzalez revealed last month that he is looking to leave Stuttgart after two seasons at the German club. The forward has made quite an impression with Stuttgart, with many predicting him to have a bright future.

Gonzalez is a quick and skilful dribbler, who likes taking on opposing defenders in whichever position he’s playing in.

He is a left-footed attacker who has pace, the confidence to take on defences, while also showing aggression and work-rate. He has played in numerous positions in his stint at Stuttgart.

Gonzalez has played all along the left side, even as a left wing-back, while also playing on the opposite side as a right winger. The Argentine has also played as a centre-forward for the German club.

The 22-year old has popped up with goals from whichever position he has played in for Stuttgart in the 2019-20 season. He averaged 1.5 dribbles and 2.7 shots per game in the season, showing that he is not afraid to dribble or shoot at goal.

Gonzalez could be a very good signing for Leeds United as he has the flair and work-rate that Bielsa requires in his players. The Argentinian could play on the left or right, which was occupied by Jack Harrison and Helder Costa last season.

But, it’s upfront that Leeds needs strengthening as first-choice striker Patrick Bamford’s efficiency in front of goal last season was a worry.

Gonzalez could play up top for Leeds, and with the creativity of Harrison and the experienced Pablo Hernandez behind him, the Argentine could get many opportunities to score in the league next season.
