The 2019-20 Premier League season has been a pretty unique one. From closely-fought relegation dogfights, to competition for Champions League and Europa League, and young managers getting a chance, the season was an exciting one.
With the COVID-19 pandemic thrown into it, the season will be one that fans will remember for ages.
It was the longest Premier League season, and we take a look at the top 5 moments from the campaign:
Top 5 moments from the 2019-20 Premier League season
#1 Liverpool winning the title
Jurgen Klopp and his side banished ghosts of the past by finally bagging the Premier League, after getting ever so close last year.
The sheer domination of the league by Liverpool saw them finish 18 points ahead of arch-rivals Manchester City, who had won the league by a point in the previous year.
The German manager has put together one of the strongest teams in Premier League history, and he will want to continue this domination by winning a few more titles in the next few years.
#2 Leicester City 9-0 Southampton
Leicester City, like Liverpool, got off the blocks quickly in the 2019-20 Premier League season. Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers gave the Leicester fans hope of another miraculous season, after having a very good first half of the season.
Their best performance of the season came in October when they smashed Southampton 9-0 at St. Mary’s.
Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez scored a hat-trick each to register the joint-biggest winning margin in Premier League history.
#3 Players taking a knee
The COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt, and while battling the pandemic, the world came together to take a step against racism with the George Floyd protests.

The football world also joined in the protests, including the Premier League, as players, officials and staff took a knee in solidarity, ahead of every Premier League game.
This was a great boost to bringing racial equality in the world, and it is a message that will hopefully end the tribulations of racism.
#4 Wolves coming from behind to defeat Manchester City
Manchester City will be unhappy with their performances in the 2019-20 season, especially with the losses against teams way below them in the table.
They lost to the likes of Norwich City and Southampton, while Wolves did the double over them this season. Their first loss to Wolves came in October as Adama Traore took advantage of City’s poor defending in the last 10 minutes of the game.
But, what was even more impressive was Wolves’ win against City at Molineux. After going down 2-0 to City in the 50th minute, not many expected Wolves to even get a draw.
Traore was once again chief tormentor as he scored one and set up another, while Matt Doherty scored a late winner to cap off an impressive, come-from-behind, 3-2 win.
#5 Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to Watford
Not many expected Liverpool to have such a dominant season. And after not losing a game for the majority of the season, many tipped the Reds to go unbeaten, and become only the second team in Premier League history to finish the campaign unbeaten, after Arsenal’s Invincibles season of 2003-04.
But the Reds’ dreams of achieving that came crashing down in February, when they lost to Watford at Vicarage Road. The defeat was all the more shocking because of the two clubs’ league positions at the time.
The Merseyside club were not in the races on the day, with Ismaila Sarr running riot on the Watford right. Liverpool eventually went on to lose two more games in the league, against Arsenal and Manchester City, but still managed to wrap up the title in record time.
