After their loss to Sheffield United last time around, Chelsea will host relegated Norwich City later today, and will hope to return to winning ways.
Frank Lampard would have heaved a huge sigh of relief as Manchester United could not capitalise on the Blues’ loss against Sheffield United. Manchester United were denied a victory by Southampton, who equalised late on.
Norwich gave Chelsea a fright last time around, as the Blues just about edged it, winning 3-2 against the Canaries. But, the situation is very different now. Norwich have lost their last 7 Premier League games, with their last win in the league coming way back in February.
With the pressure now lifted, Norwich could play a bit more freely now, so Chelsea cannot afford to take them lightly.
Chelsea Team News
N’Golo Kante will yet again miss out, but Frank Lampard revealed that the Frenchman could be fit for Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final tie against Manchester United. Billy Gilmour has also been ruled out of the game.
Let’s take a look at the side that Frank Lampard could put out for the game against Norwich City:
Predicted Chelsea Lineup vs Norwich City
Goalkeeper
Kepa Arrizabalaga had yet another average game against Sheffield United last time around, and made just one save in the entire match. But Lampard will most likely stick with him in the Chelsea lineup.
Defence
Lampard will have no choice but to stick to his central defence pairing of Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen at the back for the game against Norwich City.
Marcos Alonso could come into the Chelsea lineup to replace César Azpilicueta at left-back. The Chelsea captain will most likely move to the right-back spot, replacing Reece James.
Midfield
Mateo Kovacic was an unused substitute last time around, but he could start against Norwich City. Jorginho could retain his place as well. Mason Mount could drop to the bench for this game after his inconsistent performances of late.
Ross Barkley could keep his place in the Chelsea lineup, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is an option for Lampard.
Attack
Tammy Abraham started last time around, but failed to get on the score-sheet despite a few good chances.
Olivier Giroud could replace Abraham in the Chelsea lineup. Christian Pulisic and Willian, both of whom have been in decent form, should start out wide for the Blues against Norwich City on Tuesday.
