Juventus Interested In Mega Swap Deal With Chelsea: What Should Lampard Do?

Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri, who was at the helm at Chelsea last season, is keen on landing left-back Marcos Alonso and midfielder Jorginho from the Blues in exchange for cash plus two players from the Old Lady’s roster.

The Juventus board is all set to back their manager in his desire to capture the two players to bolster the squad once the transfer window opens, according to Express.

The combined value of Marcos Alonso and Jorginho set by the West Londoners is around £71.8 million and Juventus are prepared to offer Federico Bernardeschi and Adrien Rabiot to Chelsea in a bid to trim down the cash figure for their targets.

Bernardeschi is currently valued at £31.4 million while Rabiot has a price tag of 22.5 million and Juventus will offer £18 million in cash to meet the demands of Chelsea, who are already looking to offload Alonso in the upcoming transfer window.

Mega Swap Deal: What should the Blues’ play here be?

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has already done shrewd business, with the capture of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner expected to bolster their attacking quality manifold. The former England international is currently looking to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City for the left-back area which is the exact reason Marcos Alonso is understood to be expendable.

Though offloading Alonso to trim the squad would be a good move for Chelsea, the four-player swap deal between the two heavyweights does not make sense if the players involved are taken into account. Frank Lampard certainly does not need Federico Bernardeschi as the Pensioners already have enough competition in the attacking midfield area with Ruben Loftus Cheek, Mason Mount and Ross Barkley waiting to impress.

Adrien Rabiot is a player whose career is going downhill and Chelsea do not need him either at this moment with Lampard focusing on building a core of young English talent in which he has been successful to an extent in his very first season. Other than the above-mentioned players, the likes of Billy Gilmour have been given opportunities and he has impressed immensely and any move for the likes of Bernardeschi and Rabiot could seriously hamper his growth at the club.

There is a section who believe that Lampard is not fully convinced of Jorginho’s role in his team and while that is up for debate, the Italian is a much better option than the above mentioned Juventus players.

If Juventus are reluctant in offering cash for Marcos Alonso, the Blues should simply move away from any negotiations as there are expected to be no shortage of suitors for the experienced Spaniard considering Alonso’s capabilities and the fact that he still has a good number of years at the top left in him.
