Manchester United are linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso. The 25-year-old Frenchman, who was a part of the 2018 World Cup-winning squad, has been with the German club since 2017.
But, it seems that his playing days at Bayern are numbered as he has been frustrated with the limited chances he has had at the club, as per Daily Express. The report states that Corentin Tolisso is interested in a move to the Premier League and the German club will also be willing to sell him. Tolisso has made 68 appearances for the club since moving to Bayern in the 2017 summer transfer window.
His current contract with the club expires in 2022.
Corentin Tolisso: A top option for Ole?
Corentin Tolisso got his big move to Bayern Munich after impressing for French club Lyon where he had come through the ranks. The Frenchman is a central midfielder with great composure, technical ability, and fantastic passing ability. Tolisso can play in the central midfield or defensive midfield role.
He is a brilliant passer, often spraying balls to wide areas from midfield and switching play to free the wide attackers. In the 2019-20 season of the Bundesliga, Corentin Tolisso averaged 3.2 long balls per game, as well as an average of 41.9 passes per game. He also has the knack of scoring from outside the box, as well as being a threat from set-piece situations.
The French midfielder could be a solid signing for the Red Devils. The Premier League side have missed a solid passer of the ball from midfield since the retirement of Michael Carrick which has seen them meekly relinquish midfield control in most of the games against top 6 opponents in the last couple of seasons.
Corentin Tolisso could be a player who can control the match from midfield, adding composure and passing ability from the middle. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed the way United play, with greater emphasis on building from the back, with central midfield expected to play a more significant part in the transition.
Tolisso could also be the player to replace compatriot Paul Pogba in midfield if the Frenchman leaves Old Trafford in the summer. The Bayern Munich midfielder could be a part of a new midfield trio that could feature Bruno Fernandes and one of Fred or Scott McTominay. Tolisso’s passing would complement the defensive attributes of Fred and McTominay, as well as the playmaking attributes that Fernandes possesses.
