Manchester United are keen on signing Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window, as per reports.
Grealish has been in sensational form for his side, which earned him rave reviews so far this season.
As per Daily Mirror, United will “prioritise” a move for Grealish in the summer over Leicester City’s James Maddison, who is reportedly close to signing a new deal with the Foxes. The report states that several top clubs are interested in Grealish apart from United.
The Englishman has spent his entire senior career at Villa Park, having joined the club at six years of age.
Grealish has made over 170 appearances for Villa in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and completing 30 assists. This season, he has scored 9 goals and made 7 assists in 27 games in all competitions, helping Villa to reach the League Cup final.
Jack Grealish – The spark Manchester United need?
Aston Villa may be struggling in the Premier League and are in a relegation battle, but Grealish has shone for the Villans.
The 24-year-old’s flair, creativity and leadership have stood out, which has resulted in several clubs vying for his signature.
Grealish is a player that’s capable of playing in multiple positions; as one of the midfielders in a three-man midfield, as a No. 10, or out wide on the left as an inside winger.
He is a confident dribbler, who likes to take on opposing players. He also has the ability to cross and shoot from distance as Manchester United found out when he scored against them at Old Trafford this season.
The English attacker would be a good fit at Manchester United as they currently lack a player of his ilk, someone who can drive at defences and get past players. He will add depth to the United squad, which has lacked options in the attacking areas this season, while also adding unpredictability in their game.
While he may not usurp Marcus Rashford from his position on the left, he could be an option in midfield, especially if Paul Pogba leaves the club in the summer.
Grealish is a versatile player with loads of skill and confidence, and is the sort of player that Sir Alex Ferguson would have loved to have in his great teams.
