Leeds United Eye Cut-Price Transfer For Midfield Marvel: What Will He Add To The Team?

Leeds United could sign Coventry City midfielder Zain Westbrooke in the January transfer window, if reports are to be believed.

The 23-year-old joined Coventry City in 2018 on a free transfer, and has put in good performances for the League One side that has attracted interest from the Whites.

As per Nottingham Post, Westbrooke is a target for several Championship clubs, with the likes of Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Derby County and West Bromwich Albion interested in signing him, apart from Leeds United.

The report goes on to state that he could be bought for a fee of £2 million in the January transfer window. Westbrooke’s contract with Coventry expires in the summer as per Transfermarkt.

He has 24 appearances for the side this season, scoring 4 times and managing 2 assists for Coventry City in all competitions.

Westbrooke was a part of the Chelsea academy before leaving in 2011 to join Brentford, but he managed to make just one appearance for the Championship side.

Zain Westbrooke – What will he add to  Leeds United?

Leeds United are top of the Championship and are one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League, but there is a chance of them faltering if they have a string of injuries.

Marcelo Bielsa needs to add more players to his team, especially with the injuries he has faced, as well as two loan players returning to their parent clubs.

Midfield is an area where they will need at least one more player as the likes of Jamie Shackleton and Adam Forshaw have been on the sidelines due to injury.

Zain Westbrooke could be a smart signing for Leeds as he is a player that will fit well in Bielsa’s style of play, and he is also pretty young.

The central midfielder is a hard-working player who likes to go up and down the pitch, while also being a very good passer and crosser.

Westbrooke is technically good, and likes to play the attackers with his through balls and composed passing. He is a player who is confident on the ball and likes to spray passes around the pitch.

The 23-year-old could be a good player to play alongside Mateusz Klich in midfield, while also capable of playing further ahead in the No. 10 role.
