Tottenham Hotspur have now entered the race to possibly sign Lyon striker as a replacement for injured Spurs striker Harry Kane. The 23-year-old French striker is one of a few strikers who have been added to the Spurs shortlist for the January transfer window.
According to Goal, Dembele is the latest striker that Spurs have an eye out for, who is also a target for Chelsea. This past week, the North London club were also linked with a move for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.
Dembele, who previously played for Celtic and Fulham, had a good first season at Lyon, scoring 20 goals, and has continued his good form, scoring 13 goals in the season so far. His current deal with Lyon expires only in 2023. The Frenchman made 3 appearances in the Premier League with Fulham in the 2013-14 season followed by two seasons in the Championship.
Moussa Dembele: Good option for Mourinho?
Tottenham are desperately in search of a striker who can fill in the void left by Harry Kane who will miss the next three months due to injury. Dembele could be an excellent signing for Spurs as the 23-year-old is a striker who has a lot of goals in him. The Frenchman is a player with an abundance of pace and dribbling ability, but it’s his eye for goal that is very impressive.
Dembele likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender, and use his speed to move quickly towards goal. His finishing in front of goal is exceptional and he averages 2 shots on goal per game in the league this season. While he may not be an all-round player like Kane, who is very good at holding up the ball, dropping deep and creating goals, Dembele is a goal poacher who comes alive in and around the box.
But, Moussa Dembele would be an excellent addition to the Spurs squad who do not have any other 20-goal player in their team apart from Kane. Having already had experience of playing in England, the Frenchman could settle in easily at Spurs. His young age means that this signing could be one for now as well as the future. Dembele is one of the most exciting strikers in France and he could become a big hit at Spurs.
