Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool’s star player Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players at Anfield over the last few years, but the English side could lose the 27-year-old to the allure of Real Madrid.
As per Le10 Sport, Real Madrid have got in touch with Mane’s representatives over a possible move which could happen at the end of the season. The report further states that there is a rumour that Mane has already had a discussion with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane over a possible move.
Mane joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 and has helped the side to a Champions League trophy, while also being a key player in Liverpool’s incredible run in the league this season. The Senegalese attacker has scored 73 times and made 33 assists in 150 appearances for the Reds in all competitions. He signed a new deal with Liverpool, which now expires in 2023.
How will their attack look with Sadio Mane?
Sadio Mane is perhaps one of the best players in his role in the world currently, and would probably walk into any side in Europe. The winger would be a fantastic signing for Real Madrid, who have struggled for consistency since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo as the goals have dried up at the club.
Mane’s direct running, dribbling, and accurate finishing would be a huge boost for the Spanish club. The club could get rid of the likes of Gareth Bale, James Rodríguez and Isco, which would open up places in the squad. Madrid made a huge signing ahead of this season, bringing in Eden Hazard from Chelsea, who is also a left-winger like Mane. But Hazard hasn’t got off to the best start in Madrid colours which has possibly resulted in the interest to sign Mane.
Mane will most likely replace Hazard in the Real Madrid attack, starting from the left, with Karim Benzema playing the lone striker role. Zidane will have to accommodate Hazard in the team in that case, as the former Chelsea player surely won’t be benched long-term given his stature and big-money move.
Mane could also play off the right, which has been occupied by the young and exciting Rodrygo, and Bale – the latter who will most likely leave the club in the summer. If Madrid do sign Sadio Mane, they could pose a very strong challenge in the Champions League yet again and reclaim their top spot in European football.
