Manchester United’s insistence on youth has seen them scout for some exciting names from across Europe recently. One such name that is catching the eye of the fans is Marash Kumbulla.
A story from TuttoMercato claims that the Red Devils are one of many European clubs interested in the Hellas Verona defender, making huge strides in the Serie A.
The Italian side are open to selling him at around £13million this January, but are keen to keep him on loan till the end of the season.
But who is Kumbulla and what has attracted United’s interest?
Marash Kumbulla and his rise
The 19-year-old has always been highly regarded in the youth set-up at Verona, making his senior debut in 2018. But he has only broken into the first team earlier this season, and has not looked back ever since.
Currently a regular in the first team, Kumbulla has 12 Serie A starts to his name, where he has registered some incredible defensive numbers to help his side to stay in the hunt for a place in Europe.
Known for his calm and sensible approach to the game, the Albanian international is a pro-active defender, constantly trying to stay ahead of the game. He loves to stick close to the striker, and though gives needless fouls away, is often quick to cut out any danger in and around the box.

He is strong in the air at both ends of the field, and was deployed as a defensive midfielder in the youth setup not so long ago.
Kumbulla got his first international cap in October last year, and has grown into one of the most exciting defenders on show in Europe at the moment.
Marash Kumbulla – A good move by Manchester United to go after him?
At just 19, Kumbulla does not have too much experience at the highest stage in Europe, but from what he has shown in the Italian top-flight season, he could be a huge coup for the Red Devils.
Kumbulla has shown that he can get the better of even the best of stars, and has shown enough promise for United to invest in him.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stuck with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof due to lack of options at the back recently. Eric Bailey could be back in action soon, but remains the only other senior option in the squad.
The likes of Alex Tuanzebe, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones have all played in that role this season, but they have often flattered to deceive, and Kumbulla looks to be an upgrade on each of those names.
The Verona star is a strong player, and will suit the Premier League well. He has big potential and is will come with very little risk, even if he arrives at the end of the season.
