Bournemouth Linked With Borussia Dortmund Winger: Canny Option For Howe

Struggling Bournemouth could add players in the January transfer window and have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jacob Bruun Larsen. The 21-year-old Danish international has been with the German club since 2015 but hasn’t had much game time this season.

As per Bournemouth Echo, the Cherries are reportedly interested in the wide player. But, it seems that Bournemouth haven’t yet placed a bid, as per Kicker. German club Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested in signing Larsen. The Dane made 24 appearances last season, scoring three goals, but has played just 9 times in all competitions this season, having started just one game.

Jacob Bruun Larsen’s current deal with Dortmund expires in 2021 and it seems like he does not have a future at the club. He moved to Borussia Dortmund from Danish side Lyngby in 2015 and made his debut in the 2016-17 season.

Jacob Bruun Larsen: Can he ease Bournemouth’s woes?

Bournemouth are on a slippery slope, having lost 4 of their last 5 Premier League games and have won only 3 out of their last 18 games. They are preparing for a scrappy fight to protect their top-flight status.

Eddie Howe’s side had not scored in their last four Premier League games prior to their win last night against Brighton and need some inspiration and fresh blood added to their squad.

Jacob Bruun Larsen could be a decent signing for the Cherries as he is a player that would suit and fit into Howe’s system. The right-footed winger usually plays from the left, and likes to drift into central areas to influence the game, while also being capable of playing on the right and as a striker.

The lanky 21-year-old is a good dribbler of the ball, takes on opposition defenders, and likes to take shots on goal or square it to teammates. The Dane is a hard-working player who tracks back and helps his defence out when needed.

His quick speed and dribbling ability would make him a very good player on the counter. Larsen is also good in the air, which is an attribute that would be useful in the Premier League. Ryan Fraser, Bournemouth’s first-choice left winger, is likely to leave the club at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract. Larsen could be a good replacement for him and could fill his shoes in the long-term.

Larsen has not had many opportunities at Dortmund, but he has the potential to be a good player for Bournemouth, especially if Eddie Howe can ride over this tough phase and rebuild for next season.
