3 Changes Expected: 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur

After yet another disappointing result in the Premier League, this time against Aston Villa, Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, in what will be Jose Mourinho’s first return to the club ever since his sack.

United have drawn their last two league games, both against newly-promoted sides, and have a tough week ahead of them as they face Spurs on Wednesday, followed by a trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City on Saturday.

The Red Devils are currently 9th in the league with 18 points from 14 games – two points behind Spurs, who have won back-to-back league games since the appointment of Mourinho as their manager.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United team for the game against Tottenham.

Team News

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to give any definitive update on McTominay and Matic rating them as ‘touch and go’.

Paul Pogba was ruled out, however, even though he is closing in on a return to first-team action.

PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

David de Gea will start in goal for the Red Devils against Spurs on Wednesday night.

Defence

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof should continue at the back, leading the four-man defence for Manchester United. Aaron Wan-Bissaka should retain his place at right-back, but Solskjaer has several options at left-back.

Youngster Brandon Williams has done well so far, but Solskjaer could go for an experienced player at left-back. Luke Shaw is back in contention after his return from injury, and he played the last 10 minutes of the game against Villa.

Shaw is an option for Solskjaer, as is Ashley Young. Shaw could be chosen to keep Spurs’ attackers quiet on United’s left.

Midfield

The big change in midfield could be the return of Scott McTominay, who could start in the double pivot alongside Fred in the Manchester United team.

Juan Mata started in the No. 10 role last time around, before moving to the right, in the game against Villa. He could drop to the bench, with either Jesse Lingard or Andreas Pereira playing in that role.

Attack

The attack is going to remain unchanged, with Anthony Martial starting up top, flanked by Daniel James and Marcus Rashford on the right and left, respectively.
