Surprise Choice Up Top | Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Manchester City

Manchester United face arch-rivals and neighbours Manchester City on Saturday night, in what is a crucial match for both teams.

United will be full of confidence after a fantastic win against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side, and will be optimistic of coming away with at least a point from the Etihad.

The last time these two sides faced at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the game, winning 3-1, while they also won the game at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Team News

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that Paul Pogba will not be fit for the game against Manchester City. But, he did give some good news on the injury front as Anthony Martial will be involved in the game, although it’s a doubt that he will start the game.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United team for the game against Manchester City.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Manchester City

Goalkeeper

Manchester United’s No. 1 David de Gea will start in goal for the Red Devils, and will mostly have a busy outing between the sticks.

Defence

If Solskjaer persists with a four-man defence, we could see the same backline that played against Tottenham.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof will start in the middle of defence, while Ashley Young and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start at left-back and right-back respectively. Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams are other options at left-back for Solskjaer.

If Solskjaer uses a three-man defence, Axel Tuanzebe could come into the Manchester United lineup to play alongside Maguire and Lindelof.

Midfield

Solskjaer may retain the same midfield three of Scott McTominay, Fred, and Jesse Lingard to face Manchester City.

McTominay and Fred were very good defensively and offensively against Spurs, while Lingard put in a good performance, playing in between the lines. Andreas Pereira is an option in the No. 10 role, but he may not start the game after Lingard’s last performance.

Attack

Manchester United will depend on their wide players, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James, to cause problems to the City backline.

Rashford scored a brace against Spurs, and he will start on the left, with James on the right. If Anthony Martial is fit enough to start, he will play up top, or Mason Greenwood will retain his place upfront.
