Leeds United Join The Race To Sign Belgian Goal-Machine: A Good Option For Bielsa?

Leeds United have joined the race to sign Belgian striker Renaud Emond who currently plays for Standard Liege. The 27-year-old striker is a key player for the Belgian club and was in fine form for the side last season.

As per The Sun, Emond has been tracked by Leeds United and Nottingham Forest as well as Premier League side Norwich City.

The Whites could make a move for the striker in January with the report stating that he could be available for about £3 million in the winter transfer window.

The Belgian ended last season with 16 goals from 44 games in all competitions, and has got off to a good start this season as well, scoring 7 goals in 14 league games.

Emond’s current deal with the club expires in 2021, having signed a new deal earlier this year.

Renaud Emond – A good option for Leeds United?

Leeds United are flying high in the Championship this season, and have won their last 7 league games while being undefeated in their last 10 games as well.

The Whites have a good squad, but will need to strengthen in January to help them get back to the Premier League, and avoid a second half of the season collapse.

Emond is a talented striker who has good movement in the box and arrives at the right time to score crucial goals.

The Belgian is primarily a striker, but can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a right-winger. The 27-year-old is tall, strong, and quick, and is a neat finisher.

He could be a good addition to the Leeds United squad as Bielsa needs another option up top in their bid for promotion.

First-choice striker Patrick Bamford went through a lean spell before getting back in the goals last month. Leeds have created several chances this season, but have found it tough to put away their chances with Bamford up top.

On-loan striker Eddie Nketiah has not had too many chances while also battling an injury. With claims of Arsenal wanting him back in January, Leeds may need another striker to provide competition to Bamford.

At £3 million, Emond could be a good buy, as he has experience of playing in the Europa League and has scored constantly wherever he has played.
