Hourihane To Return | Predicted 4-3-3 Aston Villa Lineup vs Sheffield United

After losing to Leicester City last weekend, Aston Villa will face another strong side in Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Lions, after a good run in the league, have slipped into a relegation battle after five losses in their last seven games.

Dean Smith’s side are 17th in the league table, level on points with Southampton who are in 18th.

The Villans could very well drop into the relegation zone after this weekend’s round of fixtures if they lose their game against the Blades.

Aston Villa Team News

Villa have been dealt a major injury blow as their star defender Tyrone Mings will miss the rest of 2019. He suffered a hamstring injury in the last game against Leicester City, while left-back Matt Targett was also taken off in that game due to an injury.

Striker Keinan Davis will also most likely miss the match, while Villa’s backup goalkeeper Jed Steer is out with a long-term injury.

Let’s take a look at the possible Aston Villa lineup for the game against Sheffield United:

Predicted Aston Villa Lineup vs Sheffield United

Goalkeeper

Tom Heaton should keep his place in the Aston Villa lineup as he is one of the first names on the teamsheet at the moment.

Defence

Mings’ injury means that Björn Engels – who replaced the Englishman against Leicester City – will start at the back.

Ezri Konsa, who has started the last few games for Villa, will retain his place in the Villa defence.

Targett’s injury could result in Neil Taylor being recalled to the Aston Villa starting position at left-back. Frédéric Guilbert could play at right-back in place of Ahmed Elmohamady.

Midfield

Marvelous Nakamba, Douglas Luiz, and John McGinn started in midfield for the game against Leicester City. We could see either Nakamba drop to the bench in place of the industrious and more creative Conor Hourihane.

Smith will want to change things up and will need a midfielder with a lot more energy in against a side like Sheffield United.

Attack

Captain Jack Grealish – who scored Villa’s only goal against Leicester – should start on the left, while Anwar El Ghazi could keep his place on the right in the Aston Villa lineup.

Brazilian striker Wesley has not scored in two months, but Smith could persist with his summer signing.
