Bruce To Make 2 Key Changes | Predicted Newcastle United Lineup vs Burnley

After a slow start to the 2019-20 Premier League season, Steve Bruce and Newcastle United have turned things around, and have picked up four wins in their last six games.

The Magpies have managed wins over Manchester United and Tottenham this season, as well as a draw against defending champions Manchester City, as they have been pretty competitive in the first half of the season.

Bruce’s side will face off against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, and will be in a buoyant mood after winning their last two games.

The last time these two sides met at Turf Moor, Newcastle took all three points, with goals from Ciaran Clark and a Ben Mee own goal.

Newcastle United Team News

The Magpies have a few worrying injuries to key personnel. Allan Saint-Maximin is set to miss the next few weeks due to a hamstring injury, after suffering the injury in the last match against Southampton.

Ciaran Clark could also miss the match with a calf injury that he suffered. He joins the treatment table alongside captain Jamaal Lascelles and right-back DeAndre Yedlin.

Both Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey are doubtful, and will be assessed before the game. But considering it’s going to be a busy period, it’s unlikely that they will be risked.

Let’s take a look at the possible Newcastle United lineup for the game against Burnley:

Predicted Newcastle United Lineup vs Burnley

Goalkeeper

Martin Dubravka has kept four clean sheets in the league this season, and should start in goal for Saturday’s game.

Defence

The injuries to Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles could force the Magpies unto sporting a new-look backline against Burnley.

Fabian Schar replaced Clark in the game against Southampton, and he should start. Schar hasn’t started a game since the game against Chelsea in October as he was out of action due to an injury.

The Swiss international should join Federico Fernández – who scored a goal last weekend – and Paul Dummett, at the back in the Newcastle United lineup.

Javier Manquillo should retain his right wing-back position as should Jetro Willems over at left wing-back.

Midfield

Jonjo Shelvey has been in good form, and scored another goal against the Saints. His partnership with Isaac Hayden could be disrupted, though, so Sean Longstaff could start instead.

Saint-Maximin’s injury means that Christian Atsu could get his fifth league start of the season on the left, while Joelinton could be used in a wide role, should Almiron fail to prove his fitness.

Attack

Andy Carroll should make the Newcastle United lineup as the big Geordie has impressed in recent games.
