Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Everton attacker Richarlison to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old Brazilian has impressed for the Toffees since signing for them in 2018. According to Evening Standard, Richarlison is one of several attackers that are on the shortlist for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and we could see the Red Devils make a move for him.
The report states that the Brazilian is the kind of player that the current United manager wants, thanks to his versatility and goalscoring prowess. Richarlison was signed by Everton from Watford in the summer of 2018 and has gone on to make over 50 appearances for the side, scoring 19 times.
The young Brazilian’s contract with the English club expires in 2023. His good form with Everton has earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team, for whom he has made 19 appearances scoring 6 times in the process.
He scored 14 times for Everton last season, while he has racked up 5 goals this season.
Richarlison: A smashing move by Ole?
Richarlison is a promising forward who can play multiple roles in attack for his side. Primarily a winger, the Brazilian can play as a central striker, as well as on the left and right. Pacey with good dribbling abilities, he can cause trouble to the opposition defence with his flair in the final third.
He is also a good finisher, and averages 2.7 shots per game. Richarlison is also a good header, leaping up high despite standing at 5’10”. He likes to get into the box at every opportunity which is where his good finishing comes in handy.
United currently have a pacey and direct front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James, but the options apart from these three in the current squad are limited. They need to replace the goals of Romelu Lukaku, as well as Alexis Sanchez, who has also not been replaced in any manner.
Richarlison could be a solid addition to the United squad as he has already showcased that he can mix it up with the best in the Premier League, while also being young and with a lot of potential.
He is just 22 years of age, which fits the type of player Solskjaer wants in his team. United should make a move for him as his versatility and goals would be a good addition to the squad along with his confidence while on the pitch, something United will do well to add in their squad.
