Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s young attacker Jadon Sancho, as per reports.
Sancho, who was at Manchester City before making a move to Germany, has been in good form for the German club over the last two seasons, and it seems that it will be rewarded with a big-money move.
Metro have reported that Liverpool have joined the race to sign the young Englishman, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
The report further states that the Merseyside club have dropped their interest in signing Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, and have turned their sights towards Sancho. As per the report, Sancho would cost Liverpool around £100 million or even more, and should they sign him for that fee, he would break the record fee the Reds paid for Virgil van Dijk.
Sancho came through the ranks at Watford before moving to Manchester City, but could not break into the first-team. But, he has become an important player for Dortmund, playing over 70 times for the German club.
He has scored 18 and assisted 31 times – 13 goals and 19 assists coming in the 2018-19 season. Sancho has also broken into the England set-up, playing 11 times since making his debut last year.
Is Jadon Sancho the perfect player for Klopp?
Jadon Sancho is perhaps one of the most talented English players in the world at the moment. The 19-year-old winger is quick, skilful, and seems to thrive under pressure. He took a big chance of moving out of England to get first-team opportunities and he has done exceedingly well.
Sancho is a right-footed player who can play on the right or left wing, and uses his dribbling ability and fearless attitude to cause havoc to the opposition defence.
The Englishman also has the ability to play the final, killer pass that can split defences wide open. He seems to love setting up his teammates with through balls and passes, having racked up 8 assists in all competitions this season.
The teenager would get into most Premier League sides, but the Liverpool side may be the only one where he may find it difficult to get a starting berth.
With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane – Liverpool’s two wingers – in fine form, Klopp will not drop either of them. But, Sancho could certainly add depth to the squad, which has looked weak if one or two of their key players get injured.
Klopp should sign Sancho if there is an opportunity to sign him, although it remains to be seen if Sancho would want to play second fiddle at the English club.
The level in the Bundesliga is inferior to that of the Premier League as well, so it’s likely that Sancho will take a bit of time to adjust to Klopp’s past-paced style if he does move to Anfield.
