Leicester City Eye A Cut-Price Transfer For Ligue 1 Goal-Getter: Solid Option For Rodgers?

Leicester City are reportedly keen on signing 24-year-old Senegalese attacker Habib Diallo from Metz. The forward has come through the ranks at Metz and firmly established himself as an important player for the French side.

According to Express, Diallo is a target for the Foxes and manager Brendan Rodgers could make a move for him in the January transfer window.

The reports suggests that he is also a target for Newcastle United in the winter transfer window. The 24-year-old could be available for as little as £7 million in the transfer window. The Magpies have scouted him a few times and are also interested in signing him.

Diallo, who has been with Metz since 2014, signed an extension on his current deal at the club earlier this year, extending his stay till 2022.

The Senegalese international has scored 8 times in 12 appearances for the club in Ligue 1 this season. He has registered 43 goals in 96 games for the club in five seasons.

Will Diallo be a good fit at Leicester City?

Diallo is an attacker who plays as a central striker or as a left-sided midfielder, but has primarily played as a striker this season.

He is quick with the ball at his feet and likes to play on the shoulder of the opposition defenders, using his pace to good effect.

The 24-year-old makes quick decisions inside the box, which has resulted in plenty of goals for his club in the last two seasons. Diallo averages 3.2 shots on target per game in Ligue 1, with a majority of them coming inside the penalty box.

He is a player who is a serious threat in the opposition’s penalty area. Diallo is very good in the air, winning an average of 3.9 aerial balls this season in the French league – an impressive number.

Leicester City have a potent attack this season, with several of their midfielders and wide players impressing, but they lack a quality replacement for English striker Jamie Vardy.

Diallo’s pace and physical presence could add something different to Leicester’s attack. The Foxes need a strong squad if they are to compete for a place in Europe for next season, and Diallo could strengthen their attack.
