Arsenal could earn only a point from their 2-2 draw against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium earlier today in their latest Premier League outing.
While Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse scored a goal each for the visiting side, Alexandre Lacazette bagged a brace, including a late striker to save the Gunners from being humiliated at their own backyard.
Here are our Arsenal player ratings from what transpired.
Bernd Leno 7/10
The German custodian saved a penalty but couldn’t deny the rebound from finding the back of the net. Also, he did well to weather Nathan Redmond’s strike in the second half.
Calum Chambers 4/10
Ings and Redmond caused a lot of trouble for Chambers, owing to which he struggled to find his footing in the game and was substituted at the interval.
David Luiz 5/10
The former Chelsea defender was at fault during Ings’ opener and looked bereft of confidence. Besides, he couldn’t really deal with the movements of Michael Obafemi and Ings the way Unai Emery would have wished.
Sokratis 4/10
Sokratis was nullified on a number of occasions by Obafemi and there is no denying that he is becoming a liability for the club.
Kieran Tierney 6/10
The left wing-back took some time to settle but he did put on an industrious display down the left as he galloped forward a lot and also tracked back timely to defend.
Matteo Guendouzi 5/10
Unlike most of the outings so far this season, the French prodigy lacked ambition and willingness. He hardly made his presence felt and was breached easily by Ward-Prowse and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Lucas Torreira 7/10
Undoubtedly one of the best players for Arsenal during the fixture, Torreira brought a lot of resilience into the midfield and cushioned the backline well. He made 3 tackles and mustered a pass success rate of 86%.
Hector Bellerin 4/10
More often than not, Bellerin appeared to be clueless and failed to exert pressure on Ryan Bertrand. He lacked pace and agility and has to brush up soon.
Mesut Ozil 7/10
Ozil was kept at bay for the initial thirty minutes by Ward-Prowse and Hojbjerg but after that, he played a key role in most of the attacking endeavours of the north London outfit. He completed 3 dribbles and made 2 tackles.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 6/10
There was an apparent lack of service for the Gabon international and due to the same, he couldn’t threaten Alex McCarthy to the limit. Nonetheless, he did try his luck a few times.
Alexandre Lacazette 8/10
The striker made full use of a loose ball to score his first goal and followed it up by being crisp in his movements. He showcased a lot of willingness and banged a late goal which was a reward for his tenacity.
Substitutions
Nicolas Pepe 6/10
Arsenal breathed a new life after Pepe’s introduction as with his pace, he stretched the backline of the Saints. However, he had a couple of chances to score a goal which were wasted.

Joe Willock NA
