Matchweek 12 of the Premier League kicks off on Friday night when Norwich City host Watford, where 19th in the league table takes on 20th, while the weekend ends with Liverpool hosting Manchester City, the leaders facing off against current holders.
Elsewhere, we are set to witness a potential top-four six-pointer when Leicester City host Arsenal, while Chelsea play Crystal Palace, and Manchester United play Brighton.
Ahead of this week’s Premier League action, let’s take a look at 5 players to watch out for in matchweek 12:
#1 Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling returns to his old stomping ground, Anfield, as Manchester City travel to Merseyside to play Liverpool, in what is expected to be a good game of football between two of the most dominant sides in the league.
The English winger has been in great form this season for City, scoring 14 and registering 5 assists this season in all competitions.
Sterling could give the Liverpool defence a lot of problems, and could trouble to compatriot Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
#2 Jamie Vardy
Jamie Vardy tops the goalscoring charts for the season with 10 goals, having mustered 7 goals in his last 5 games, which includes a hat-trick against Southampton.
The experienced Englishman has helped propel Leicester to third in the league table, two points shy of Manchester City in second.
The Foxes host Arsenal at home on Saturday, and the Gunners defence – which has looked shaky over the last few games – could be in for a tough time with Vardy breading down their necks.
#3 Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold is perhaps the most improved player in the Premier League over the last year or so, and is one of the most important players for Liverpool going forward.
The 19-year-old right-back may not be very strong defensively, but is a threat going forward with his pace and deadly crosses.
The Englishman will have to be at his best against Sterling, but he could push his compatriot back towards his own goal with his driving runs.
#4 Lewis Dunk
Brighton defender Lewis Dunk has had a fantastic few seasons with the Seagulls, taking the side to the Premier League and helping them stay in England’s top division.
Dunk, whose good form was rewarded with an England call-up last year, will have a difficult test this weekend as Brighton travel to Old Trafford to play Manchester United.
The Red Devils seemed to have an upturn in form recently, beginning with the draw against Liverpool, but all the good work was undone by last week’s loss against Bournemouth.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be looking to get a league win on Sunday and Dunk and co. will have to contend with the attack of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, who were impressive mid-week in the Europa League.
#5 Tammy Abraham
Tammy Abraham is just a goal behind Jamie Vardy at the top of the Premier League goalscoring chart, and will have the chance to continue his fantastic start to the season against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
Abraham has 10 goals and 4 assists in all competitions, and scored and assisted last weekend when Chelsea faced Watford.
Before last weekend’s goal, the Englishman’s last goal came in the first week of October as he went on a five-game goalless streak. With him having broken that streak, we could expect him to get on the scoresheet once again.
