Manchester United will hope to take some positives from their game against Liverpool when they travel to Serbia to play Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League.
The Red Devils, disappointingly, drew their last Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar, while they beat Astana by just a solitary goal.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want his players to put in a solid performance in a tricky away trip, to take the lead in the group. The English club will have a few of their key players back from injury, with some of them possibly starting on Thursday night.
Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United lineup for the game against Partizan Belgrade:
Manchester United Team News
Axel Tuanzebe was pulled out of the game ahead of the Liverpool game due to an injury, and replaced with Marcos Rojo.
Tuanzebe may not feature in the game against Partizan. Paul Pogba is still out with an injury
Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Partizan Belgrade
Goalkeeper
David de Gea was an injury doubt ahead of the Liverpool game, but was declared fit to start the game. We will most likely see him drop to the bench for Thursday night’s game, with Sergio Romero coming into the starting XI.
Defence
Phil Jones could start the game, after being drafted into the squad following Tuanzebe’s injury. He could start in defence alongside Marcos Rojo, while Brandon Williams – who made his Manchester United debut last month – could start at left-back.
Ashley Young may be dropped to the bench for this game, which means that Aaron Wan-Bissaka could play at right-back, if Diogo Dalot is not passed fit.
Midfield
Fred and Scott McTominay were good for Manchester United in midfield against Liverpool, and we could see both of them start for United against Partizan.
Nemanja Matic was also not a part of the United squad for the game against Liverpool, which has shrunk Solskjaer’s options in midfield.
James Garner could be an option off the bench for United in central midfield. Juan Mata or Jesse Lingard could play the No. 10 role in the team.
Attack
Daniel James had a fine game against Liverpool, delivering the assist that led to Marcus Rashford’s goal. He could start on the left side of midfield, with Mason Greenwood starting on the opposite side.
Anthony Martial could get his first start since August after being a substitute in the game against Liverpool.
