Manchester United could make a transfer move for two Bundesliga players, 20-year-old Kai Havertz and 30-year-old Thomas Muller, with the English club’s scouts watching both players closely recently.
Havertz is one of the most promising players in the Bundesliga, while Muller has vast experience, playing in a very successful Bayern Munich side.
According to the Mirror, Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward is ready to make a bid for both players, with the report suggesting that United are willing to spend around £125 million for the signature of both players.
Muller has fallen out of favour at Bayern Munich under Niko Kovac, with the Bayern manager choosing summer loan signing Philippe Coutinho ahead of the German.
The 30-year-old, who has made nearly 500 appearances for the German club, may look to move away, with United long-term suitors of him.
Havertz, on the other hand, is a key player for current club Bayer Leverkusen, having come through the ranks at the club before making his debut in 2016. The 20-year-old midfielder has played over 100 times for the German club, scoring 31 times and making 23 assists.
Havertz and Muller will be much-needed boosts for Solskjaer
Manchester United need strengthening all across the pitch, especially in the midfield and attacking areas. The current midfield is composed of academy graduates or players that seemed to have not stepped up to the level of Manchester United.
Fred, who was signed on a huge deal, hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, while Nemanja Matic looks a shadow of his former self. Paul Pogba has been angling for a move away from Old Trafford, while Scott McTominay has a lot of potential but hasn’t been consistent enough.
Havertz could be a very good signing for Manchester United, who fits manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s template of the kind of player he wants to bring to the team.
The youngster is a midfielder who can contribute in various ways in the middle of the park as he is technically very good and has the composure and temperament to boss the midfield area.
Havertz can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, or out on the right, using his passing and vision to cause trouble to opposition defences, as well as his dribbling.
Muller is a seasoned veteran who has been known for his use of space on the football pitch, with his clever movement garnering plaudits over the years. He, too, can play on the right or as a No. 10, and has good passing and finishing ability.
Havertz would be a brilliant signing for United, as he has the potential to be a world-class player. Muller could be more than a squad player, and is the experience the attack needs.
