Following their 2-2 draw with Barnsley on Tuesday, West Bromwich Albion will look to return to winning ways when they host Charlton Athletic at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
The Throstles salvaged a point in the previous game, thanks to a spirited performance from the players in the second half, after being 2-0 down at the interval.
Slaven Bilic’s side are currently placed at the top of the Championship table with 26 points to their name after 13 league games so far, but Charlton Athletic are no pushovers.
The Red Robins are just 5 points behind their upcoming opponents and it goes without saying that the upcoming fixture promises to be an entertaining one.
West Bromwich Albion Team News
Matt Phillips missed the previous fixture following a shin complaint but should be available in the upcoming game. However, Kieran Gibbs and Gareth Barry are expected to be out due to their injuries.
West Bromwich Albion Predicted Lineup vs Charlton Athletic (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Sam Johnstone is set to be in goal as usual. He has been in a decent form between the sticks this season and will be striving to bag a clean sheet against the Addicks.
In the central defence, Semi Ajayi and Kyle Bartley are expected to start. Bartley won 7 aerial duels and made 4 tackles in the previous game and is in a good touch of form.
Darnell Furlong and Nathan Ferguson are seemingly likely to start as the full-backs. They must gallop forward regularly to create chances for their teammates.
Midfield
Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore have cemented their places in the central midfield of the Baggies and are likely to get the nod to start from Bilic once again.
Notably, Livermore has shielded the backline of his side meticulously and his presence allows Sawyers to get into the final third regularly to unlock opposition’s defensive line.
Meanwhile, Filip Krovinovic could get back into the starting lineup to operate as the central attacking midfielder owing to his creative prowess and clever movements.
Attack
Charlie Austin has been far from convincing so far this season, having scored just 1 goal in 9 games, but he could be persisted with by Bilic to lead the line.
The left-wing could be occupied by Grady Diangana whereas we could see Matheus Pereira being shifted to the right flank to replace Kyle Edwards.
Pereira has already registered 3 goals and 4 assists in 11 league appearances so far in the Championship and will definitely add spark to Albion’s attacking department.
