Top 3 Attackers From The Matchweek 6 Ft. Liverpool And Manchester City Stars | Opinion

Matchweek 6 of the 2019-20 Premier League season ended with quite a few surprise results, including Manchester City’s 8-0 mauling of bottom-placed Watford.

Liverpool secured a gritty win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to extend their perfect record, winning all six of their Premier League games this season.

We also saw Everton and Manchester United succumb to surprising defeats to Sheffield United and West Ham United, respectively, while Arsenal had to dig deep to beat Aston Villa at home.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 attackers from the matchweek:

Chris Wood

Burnley striker Chris Wood scored a brace in his side’s 2-0 win over Norwich City at home. The New Zealand international’s first two goals this season came in the 10th and 14th minute of the game.

The first goal was a powerful header from the near post from a corner put it into the box. The 27-year-old drifted ahead of his marker and glanced the ball into the back of the net with ease.

The second goal was also a well-taken effort when Wood moved ahead of his marker, and slotted it past Tim Krul with his left foot, quite effortlessly. Wood is the perfect target man and Burnley will do well if they can exploit his strengths.

Bernardo Silva

Manchester City ran riot against West Ham United after their embarrassing defeat to Norwich City last weekend. The reigning Premier League champions scored five goals in the first 18 minutes of the match, and then proceeded to score three more in the second half.

Quite a few of Manchester City’s attackers, including Riyad Mahrez or Sergio Aguero, could have made it onto this list, but Portuguese attacker Bernardo Silva makes it here thanks to his hat-trick. Silva scored one goal in the first half and the other two goals in the second half of the game.

Silva’s first goal was a low header from a set-piece, which came in the 15th minute and put City up 4-0. His second was a well struck low shot with his left foot after getting past a defender, which he scored in the 48th minute. He wrapped up his hat-trick with another low shot from the left, right in front of goal.

Roberto Firmino

Roberto Firmino has been in splendid form and continued his great run with a goal against Chelsea, which turned out to be the difference.

The Brazilian scored his goal in the 30th minute when he climbed above Chelsea’s defenders and headed the ball home.

Firmino troubled the Chelsea defence time and again, playing between the lines, as he has done very well this season. While the goal may not have been spectacular, his overall performance was impressive.
