Real Madrid Plotting Massive Reunion With Portuguese Ace: Right Man For The Club?

Florentino Perez has reportedly identified a replacement for Zinedine Zidane if the club’s form does not improve in the next few weeks.

According to a story from The Times, Real Madrid are now considering Jose Mourinho as the right man to take over the club and bring back the glory days.

The story claims that there could be a contingent of the Madrid squad that could oppose this move. However, Mourinho is reportedly ready to take up this offer and his relationship with Perez could smoothen this deal. But is Mourinho the right man for Real Madrid?

Mourinho’s Glorious Past

Currently working as a pundit for Sky Sports, Mourinho has not been too ineffective in his last three managerial stints.

Since 2010, he won the La Liga title with Real Madrid, Premier League title with Chelsea and the Europa League with Manchester United but was sacked from each of those clubs, going into his third season.

It was widely accepted that Mourinho lost his charm in his final few months at Old Trafford but the struggles that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has faced at the club show that Mourinho was not too bad with his decision making after all.

The Portuguese born manager also won the Champions League title with FC Porto and a treble with Inter Milan and has one of the most attractive CVs in world football.

His methods and the reputation of losing the dressing room have often been criticized but his ability to win trophies for the club he manages makes him a viable option for the struggling Spanish giants.

Is Mourinho The Best Option?

Real Madrid decided to part ways with Zinedine Zidane back in May last year but have since sacked two different coaches, before bringing the French manager back to the club late last season.

While Zidane’s first stint at Bernabeu was trophy-laden, his return to the club has been anything but impressive.

He spent over €300m in the summer but has a win percentage of less than 50% since his return to the club.

The number of new faces in the squad might be a reason for their slow start but Real Madrid have too much quality to be struggling the way they are at the moment.

Florentino Perez’s methods mean that Zidane does not have too long at the Spanish capital and it does not come as a surprise that the president of the club is looking at a manager who has already made an impact at the club.

Mourinho has won a league title in England with Eden Hazard as his main man and this reunion could be what Real Madrid need at the moment. With respect to Chelsea, Madrid have a superior squad to that in England and unless Mourinho fails miserably, he is sure to get the club back on the right track.

Perez will have no issues to give Mourinho the support he needs in the transfer market as well so the only thing the Portuguese needs is time and belief in his ability, from the fans, the owners and the media alike.
