After the first round of Champions League and Europa League fixtures, the Premier League resumes on Friday night with Southampton playing host to neighbours Bournemouth in the south coast derby.
Elsewhere, Manchester City will hope to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they play bottom-placed Watford at the Etihad, while the big clash of the weekend will see Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
Let’s take a look at 5 players to watch out for in matchweek 6:
#1 Roberto Firmino
Roberto Firmino may not be at the top of the goals or assists charts so far this season, but the Brazilian has had a huge impact on the Liverpool side in the five Premier League appearances he has made in this season.
Firmino has scored two goals and assisted three goals so far, and has been instrumental in Liverpool’s brilliant start to the season.
Against Chelsea this weekend, he could perhaps exploit the weak backline of the Blues by drifting into the areas between the midfield and defence, and pressing the Chelsea defenders who aren’t the best with their distribution when under pressure.
#2 Tyrone Mings
Tyrone Mings has had a fantastic start to his Premier League season with Aston Villa, as he has been a commanding presence in the Villa backline and led the newly-promoted side well.
The English centre-back leads the charts in blocks, clearances and headed clearances, and he will have to put up a good performance if his side are to gain any points in their game against Arsenal.
#3 Teemu Pukki
One of the revelations of this season is Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki, who has racked up 6 goals in 5 games so far, including the all-important third goal for the Canaries when they defeated Manchester City last weekend.
The Finnish striker will be up against a Burnley defence who have conceded just 7 goals this season despite playing both Arsenal and Liverpool in their first give games.
#2 Kevin De Bruyne
Manchester City suffered a shock defeat against Norwich City last weekend, and will want to secure a strong win this weekend when they face Watford, who are at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The Hornets will most likely sit deep and get as many men behind the ball, which means that City’s star midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, will have a lot of time and space to get on the ball and create opportunities for the City attack.
#1 Son Heung-min
South Korean star Son Heung-Min had a strong game last time around when Spurs hosted Crystal Palace as he opened his account for the season, and managed a brace.
The attacker, who was a substitute in Spurs’ disappointing draw against Olympiacos in the Champions League, will most likely return to the starting lineup when Spurs face Leicester City.
Son could be a key player for the North London team against the Foxes as Leicester have shown that they are strong defensively.
