Lingard To Start: 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Lineup vs West Ham United

Manchester United huffed and puffed to a 1-0 win against Kazakh champions Astana in the Europa League on Thursday, as a host of young players and those that did not get game time previously, played. 17-year-old Mason Greenwood scored his first senior goal in the second half of the game to give the Red Devils the win.

United now turn their sights to West Ham United on Sunday night at the London Stadium. The last time the Red Devils played the Hammers away from home, they were defeated 3-1.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United team that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could put out against West Ham

PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED LINEUP (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

David de Gea will return between the sticks after sitting out the Europa League game with Sergio Romero taking his place.

Defence

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof will return to the heart of the Manchester United defence after both of them did not play the Europa League game against Astana.

Diogo Dalot returned to action at right-back on Thursday, playing the entire 90 minutes, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be restored to the right-back position against the Hammers. At left-back, Luke Shaw is still out of action due to injury which means that Ashley Young will once again play at left-back in the Manchester United lineup.

Midfield

Paul Pogba missed the games against Astana and Leicester City due to an injury, and he is set to miss the trip to London as well despite returning to training. Scott McTominay, who had a good game against the Foxes last weekend, will play in midfield, most likely alongside Nemanja Matic in the Manchester United lineup.

Fred, too, had a brilliant game against Astana, but he may not be fit enough to play two full games in the space of 3 days after just returning to the team.

Jesse Lingard will most likely play as the No. 10 in the Manchester United team against West Ham United to offer balance to the midfield area.

Attack

Solskjaer has more injury worries up front. Anthony Martial is not going to feature once again for United as he is out with an injury, and now United’s top scorer this season, Daniel James, could also miss the West Ham due to injury.

Marcus Rashford will lead the line with Andreas Pereira on the right. If James misses the game, Lingard will play on the left with Mata playing through the middle.
