Manchester United To Reportedly Target English Duo Next Summer: The Players They Need To Rise?

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing more young, exciting players in the next few transfer windows, as there are claims that the club want to sign two young English players – Leicester City’s James Maddison and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have a plan on what the future Manchester United team would look like, with great emphasis on signing or promoting young, British players with potential.

According to ESPN, the club are keen on signing Sancho and Maddison in next summer’s transfer window. This past summer, the Red Devils signed two fantastic young players in Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, both of whom have done exceedingly well.

Sancho has been on fire for Dortmund since moving to Germany from Manchester City, scoring 17 goals and 29 assists in 61 games for the club. The 19-year-old was called up to the England national team last year, and he has gone on to make 8 appearances, scoring 2 goals.

Maddison, on the other hand, has been a key player in Leicester City’s midfield, having moved to the Foxes from Norwich City last season. The attacking midfielder has scored 8 goals and registered 9 assists in 44 games for the Foxes.

Can the duo help Manchester United regain their status?

Both Maddison and Sancho fit Manchester United’s DNA of young, attacking British players who have the potential to become world-class players.

Sancho has the speed, technique, and dribbling ability that can get fans off their feet, while Maddison could be the heartbeat of the team, setting the tempo of the match and assisting teammates.

The addition of the duo will certainly help United challenge for the Premier League as they add creativity and flair in the final third, which is sorely lacking currently.

United have three good, young attacking players in Daniel James, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial, but none of them has shown consistency.

United have found it especially tough to break down defences that sit deep, which is where a flair player like Sancho could come in handy. The Red Devils also seem to not have a player who can pick the ball from midfield, drift past a few players and hit through balls to forwards, which is the role that Maddison plays at Leicester.

With the addition of perhaps another central midfielder along with Maddison and Sancho, United could be back to where they belong – at the top of the Premier League.
