The 2019-20 Premier League campaign is due to resume this weekend following the international break and on Sunday, Bournemouth will host Everton at the Vitality Stadium in Matchweek 5.
BOURNEMOUTH vs EVERTON: 3 THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Will Bournemouth’s attack finally fire?
Having scored just 5 goals so far, it goes without saying that Howe’s attackers have been far from convincing. They have struggled to create an ample amount of goal scoring chances and will be keen to get going given the talent they have.
Howe is expected to field an attacking side with Joshua King and Callum Wilson up front. Besides, Ryan Fraser, who bagged 7 goals and 14 assists in the league last season, could be instrumental down the flank.
The chemistry between Fraser and Wilson could trouble the visiting side owing to their dangerous link-up play and ability to generate spaces. Although Everton have been relatively solid at the back, it will be interesting to see how they fare this weekend with Howe desperate for his team to get going this season.
The offensive prowess of Alex Iwobi and Richarlison
While Richarlison bagged a brace against Wolves before the start of the international break, Alex Iwobi also found the back of the net and there is no denying that the duo will be Everton’s main threat going forward this season.
With their pace, power and agility, they will definitely look to get past Bournemouth’s central midfielders and pull their defenders out of their position. In the process, they could create spaces for Gylfi Sigurdsson and Moise Kean to join the party.
Iwobi and Richarlison also have the ability to cut inside to trouble the backline and much will depend on how the duo resume post the international break.
Battle of midfield
Andre Gomes won 4 tackles and 2 aerial duels against Wolves and he looked comfortable alongside Fabian Delph. With the latter playing the role of an anchor, Gomes gets the chance to get forward and join the attackers even though the former Manchester City’s man versatility allowed him to be more expressive against Wolves.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Lerma and Philip Billing have done a decent job for the Cherries and are seemingly likely to start against Marco Silva’s troops. However, they need to be at their best to keep Everton’s attacking midfielder Sigurdsson at bay.
Both sides are expected to create a lot of chances in the upcoming fixture and it promises to be a fairly open game and hence the more impact the creative midfielders have, there is a chance for that team to score that extra goal.
