Aston Villa Team News

Jonathan Kodjia and James Chester are still unavailable, and will only return next month.

Let’s take a look at the possible Villa lineup for the game on Saturday:

Predicted Aston Villa Lineup vs Burnley

Goalkeeper

Jed Steer played in goal for Villa in the League Cup win, but he will have to make way for first-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton for the Premier League tie.

Defence

Smith made wholesale changes to the backline against Brighton, but we will see first-choice defenders return to the Aston Villa lineup.

Tyrone Mings and Björn Engels will play in the heart of the defence for Villa when they face Burnley on Saturday, and Frédéric Guilbert and Neil Taylor will return to the side as well and play as the full-backs.

Midfield

John McGinn played 65 minutes of the game against Brighton before being replaced by Jack Grealish, who went on to score a goal. He and Grealish will start for the Villans against Burnley as both of them did not play the in the League Cup tie.

Douglas Luiz played in the base of midfield against Brighton, while Conor Hourihane played ahead of him on the pitch and scored a goal. Both players may not make the starting lineup for the weekend, with Grealish, McGinn and Marvelous Nakamba forming the midfield three.

Attack

Striker Wesley was not even in the squad for the League Cup game, but he will most likely return to the Aston Villa lineup for the Premier League game. The 22-year-old has scored twice in his opening six games in the Premier League.

Trezeguet played on the left and looked lively against Brighton, and he will most certainly play the game against Burnley, with Anwar El Ghazi returning to the side as well after sitting out the League Cup game.
