Chelsea have had a tough start to the 2019-20 Premier League season under new manager Frank Lampard, which has seen them lose 4-0 to Manchester United, while held to a draw by Leicester City and Sheffield United – teams they are expected to beat.
The Blues lost talisman and their best player in Eden Hazard at the end of the 2018-19 season, while David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuaín also left the club.
The Blues have been hit hard by the transfer ban, which could see them fall out of the top 6 and lose out on a spot in European competition for next season.
Let’s take a look at 3 reasons why Chelsea will finish outside the top six this season
Average central defenders
David Luiz has had a horrendous start to his Arsenal career since moving from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. The Blues may have been pleased with their decision to let go of the Brazilian central defender following his first few performances in the Gunners shirt, but Lampard’s team have issues at the back, too.
Kurt Zouma hasn’t fulfilled what many expected him to become as a centre-back, while Andreas Christensen hasn’t progressed in the last year or so, while Antonio Rudiger – Chelsea’s best central defender – is currently injured.
This leaves Chelsea with just two first-team centre-backs with Premier League experience, while 21-year-old Fikayo Tomori is playing his first season in the Premier League. The Blues have already conceded 9 goals in 4 games as their defence has been exploited early in the season.
Not enough goal-scorers
Eden Hazard was Chelsea’s top-scorer in three of the last six seasons and his departure has left a massive hole in Chelsea’s attack.
Lampard has put faith in Tammy Abraham, who has got off to a good start with 4 goals so far, while another youngster, Mason Mount, has also got on the scoresheet, scoring twice so far.
But, the Blues don’t seem to have goals from other areas of the pitch or from other players, apart from possibly Olivier Giroud, who could get a few goals this season.
Teams around them have stronger squads
The likes of Leicester City, Everton, and Wolves have signed quality players in the last few seasons, and Chelsea – as well as Manchester United, who have also struggled so far – could see their top 6 places be taken away from them by one of the three sides.
The Foxes have got off to the best start of the three teams, as they are one of three teams to remain undefeated, alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.
They have a young side with the right number of experienced players as well as a shrewd manager in Brendan Rodgers.
The 4th Reason:
The Chelsea compete with Experienced Coaches compared with their inexperienced one. Who can’t even figure out the right choice when doing substitution.
You are right if we not gonna make decisive decision at a moment, i am sure we gonna regret forever
lamp is not a coach for Chelsea-simple as that/he made mistake after mistake.what kind of substitution he did when Chelsea score 2:1 .because of that team lost.we did not see team which know what to do on field players seems do not know what to do.he must resign
