Chelsea have had a rocky start to the 2019-20 season under Frank Lampard, and the international break has probably come at the right time for him and his team. Several of his first-team players will represent their country in the international break, and will hopefully return sans injury ahead of their Premier League game against Wolves.
Let’s take a look at 3 Chelsea players to watch out for in the international break:
Mason Mount – England
Mason Mount has made a fantastic start to his Premier League career with Chelsea and seems like the first-choice player in the No. 10 role for the Blues under Frank Lampard. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has already scored twice this season, which earned him a call-up to the England senior team for the first time, and will be a part of the squad that faces Bulgaria and Kosovo in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Mount may not start either of the games but could get an opportunity to come off the bench.
England, who are in Group A, have won both their matches and currently lead the table.
Christian Pulisic – USA
Christian Pulisic has had a steady start at Chelsea and is slowly adapting to life in the Premier League. But, he will have to return to his good form when he represents his country as he is the most important player in the US team.
The winger will line up against Mexico and Uruguay in two friendlies during the international break and will hope to get one over the Mexican team who defeated the US a few months ago in the Gold Cup final.
Jorginho and Emerson – Italy
Jorginho and Emerson will represent Italy during the international week, as the Italians take on Armenia and Finland in Group J of the Euro 2020 qualifiers. The Azzurri have won all four of their qualifying matches, conceding just one goal while scoring 12 in the process.
Both Emerson and Jorginho are vital for the Italian national team. Emerson has been in fantastic form in the opening round of fixtures in the Premier League and has replaced Marcos Alonso as the first-choice left-back at the club, while Jorginho is playing a little ahead of where he played last season under Maurizio Sarri and has been impressive as well.
