Mount gets 8 | Chelsea Player Ratings From Their 1-1 Draw vs Leicester City

Chelsea managed just a 1-1 draw in their opening home fixture of the Premier League on Sunday as they were held by a good Leicester City side.

Mason Mount scored an early goal after taking advantage of a Wilfried Ndidi mistake, but Chelsea couldn’t make their dominance count as the Blues went into half time with just a one-goal lead.

Eventually, Wilfred Ndidi found the back of the net after he guided James Maddison’s precise corner past Chelsea custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga in the second half.

Kepa Arrizabalaga 6/10

He was hardly troubled during the first half and cannot be blamed for conceding a goal later on in the game.

Cesar Azpilicueta 5/10

Azpilicueta impressed with his driving runs forward and he did manage to put in some good crosses early on. However, he was partly at fault for Leicester City’s equaliser as he was out jumped by Ndidi.

Andreas Christensen 7/10

At the back, Christensen showed good resilience, and dealt well with Jamie Vardy’s threat.

Kurt Zouma 7/10

Zouma was solid at the back, and his strong physical approach helped him in dealing with the Leicester attackers.

Emerson Palmieri 7/10

The full-back was a livewire down the left flank as he galloped forward with willingness. Was also impressive defensively.

N’Golo Kante 7/10

Once again, Kante bossed the midfield with his tenacity and perseverance. Was the engine room for Frank Lampard’s side.

Jorginho 6/10

He wasn’t as effective as Kante, but he recycled possession well. Needs to do more, however.

Pedro 7/10

The Spaniard often drove at the Leicester backline and was good with his movement. Had a chance to score early, but could only hit the side netting.

Mason Mount 8/10

Mount scored his first goal for the London based outfit, and his creative prowess in the attacking half was evident. The young gun excelled up the pitch and is brimming with confidence at the moment.

Christian Pulisic 7/10

It was yet another good outing for Pulisic who made an impact on the left flank, and linked up nicely with Emerson. He opened up Leicester City’s defence on a number of occasions.

Olivier Giroud 6/10

The French striker created a few chances, but his impact waned in the second half.

Substitutions

Tammy Abraham 5/10

After replacing Giroud with thirty minutes left, Abraham couldn’t really make his presence felt as Leicester City upped their tempo in the second half.

Willian 5/10

He was kept at bay by Leicester City’s defenders, and hardly had a say after coming on for Pulisic in the 70th minute.

Mateo Kovacic 5/10

Replaced Jorginho, but didn’t muster anything noteworthy.
