Leeds United Ace Attracting Interest From Elsewhere: Should The Whites Let Him Leave?

Championship pace-setters Leeds United did not sign too many players in the summer transfer window, and even let go of a few players, but that doesn’t seems to have affected them as they are flying at the top of the Championship.

It now seems that they could let go of another player as left-back Laurens De Bock has attracted interest from clubs in England and other European outfits.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post, De Bock was supposed to move to Greek club Aris, but that deal fell through. But, he still seems to have clubs vying for his signature, with the report stating that the Belgian is interested in a few offers.

The 26-year-old left-back joined The Whites from Club Brugge in January 2018, signing a four and a half year deal, but hasn’t been able to lock down a place in the first team, playing just seven times in that season.

De Bock was loaned to Belgian club K.V. Oostende in the 2018-19 season, and hasn’t featured for the club in the 2019-20 season.

Should Leeds United let De Bock leave?

Leeds have got off to a great start in the Championship, winning four of their five matches so far, and have looked utterly dominant. Marcelo Bielsa should let De Bock leave as they have several options at left-back, who have all done well recently.

Bielsa’s first-choice left-back Barry Douglas, has been in great form over the last year or so for The Whites.

The Argentine manager also has a suitable backup for Douglas in Ezgjan Alioski, who is good in attack and has become a stronger player in defence as well. The Macedonian international is a versatile player who can play at left-back, wing-back, as well as further forward as a winger.

19-year-old defender Leif Davis is another option for Bielsa at left-back, who can also play at centre-back, and is a player who has the potential to become a very good player.

De Bock should be sold as he is unlikely to get much playing time for Leeds this season, while the money from his sale can be reinvested in strengthening the squad in the next transfer window.
