6 Changes Expected With Barnes To Start: Predicted Leicester City Lineup vs Newcastle United

Leicester City square off against Newcastle United on Wednesday night in the League Cup second-round game at St James’ Park.

The Foxes are one of the four remaining undefeated sides in the Premier League, the other two being last year’s champions and runners-up, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have got off to a good start, with one win and two draws. The manager has revealed that he will play a strong squad as he wants his team to have a good cup run.

Let’s take a look at the possible side that Brendan Rodgers could put out against Newcastle United on Wednesday night:

Predicted Leicester City Lineup vs Newcastle United

Goalkeeper

Danny Ward played all four League Cup games last season for Leicester, and he could once again return to the team and replace No. 1 keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Defence

Central defenders Jonny Evans and Caglar Söyüncü have formed a great understanding and partnership in the heart of defence. One of them could make way for club captain Wes Morgan, who came on late in the game against Sheffield United over the weekend. Evans could maybe be the one to drop to the bench for this game.

21-year-old James Justin, who was signed by Leicester from Luton Town in the summer transfer window, could make his first start for the club against Newcastle United at right-back.

Justin is a highly-rated full-back, who has pace and likes to bomb up the flanks. Ben Chilwell missed the last two games due to injury, and Rodgers may not want to rush him back to the team, which means that Christian Fuchs will continue at left-back.

Midfield

Rodgers has several options in midfield but will most likely be without Wilfred Ndidi, who missed the last game due to injury.

Hamza Choudhury could retain his place in the team, playing in the defensive midfield position, with Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes – who scored the winner against Sheffield United – starting in midfield alongside Choudhury.

Attack

Leicester City’s talisman Jamie Vardy may not be a part of the Foxes’ lineup, and Ayoze Perez could play as the main man upfront for Rodgers with Marc Albrighton and Demarai Gray – who were both on the bench against Sheffield United – playing out wide.
