Following their 2-1 away win over Nottingham Forest last weekend, West Brom will host Millwall at the Hawthorns this Saturday in their next Championship outing.
The Baggies had a strong end to the transfer window, and will now look to build some momentum in the Championship.
In Slaven Bilic, West Brom outfit have a shrewd manager, and they will start as the favourites against Millwall.
West Brom team news
Kieran Gibbs went off with a slight knock and a late call will be made on him. Centre-back Ahmed Hegazy will not be available owing to his ankle injury.
Predicted West Brom lineup vs. Millwall (4-2-3-1)
Sam Johnstone could have done better to stop Matty Cash’s shot from finding the back of the net last weekend. Nonetheless, he is likely to keep his place between the sticks against Millwall.
In the central defence, Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi are expected to start. While Bartley had a few nervous moments in the opening game, Ajayi was thoroughly resilient and reliable at the back.
Nathan Ferguson could keep his place at the right-back position, while Conor Townsend might be used as the left-back instead of rushing Gibbs back into the West Brom lineup.
Jake Livermore is a calm figure in midfield and he could start once again. He knits play together and has the ability to shield the defence.
Alongside Livermore, we expect Romaine Sawyers to get the nod. Sawyers will have the license to get forward.
Filip Krovinovic is the ideal candidate for the central attacking midfield role. The Baggies will need his creativity to unlock Millwall’s defence, which is expected to sit deep and absorb the pressure.
Kyle Edwards found the back of the net against Nottingham Forest, so he should keep his place on the left-wing. However, he can’t take his foot off the gas as there is a lot of competition in Albion’s ranks.
Matt Phillips is likely to be one of the first names on the teamsheet this season owing to his pace and drive in attack, and should start on Saturday. Up top, Kenneth Zohore could be replaced by newcomer Charlie Austin.
