Big Guns To Return After Cup Game: Predicted 4-3-3 Aston Villa Lineup vs Crystal Palace

Following a convincing and comfortable 6-1 win over Crewe Alexandra in the League Cup, Aston Villa face a tricky fixture away from home against Crystal Palace.

The Villans, who registered their first win of the season last week against Everton, have truly hit their stride, and this match between the two will be an exciting one.

Manager Dean Smith does not have any injury worries and will have a selection headache after the Crewe game, as his second-string side impressed in the game. Let’s take a look at the possible Aston Villa lineup:

Predicted Aston Villa Lineup vs Crystal Palace

Goalkeeper

Tom Heaton will return between the sticks after sitting out the League Cup game, having been replaced by Jed Steer in the Aston Villa lineup. Heaton has started the first three Premier League games for the Lions since signing for them in the summer.

Defence

Summer signings Kortney Hause and Ezri Konsa had an easy game against Crewe, with the latter even getting on the scoresheet. But the duo will be replaced in the heart of defence by the impressive centre-back pairing of Tyrone Mings and Björn Engels.

Left-back Matt Targett started his first game for Villa against Crewe, but had to be brought off due to an injury. Neil Taylor will once again start at the left-back position, while Frédéric Guilbert – who also got on the scoresheet against Crewe – will replace Ahmed Elmohamady at right-back in the Aston Villa lineup.

Midfield

Conor Hourihane played in an advanced role against Crewe and scored a brace, but Smith may not want to change the central midfield trio of Douglas Luiz, John McGinn, and Jack Grealish, who started in the win over Everton last week.

Defensive midfielder Marvelous Nakamba also made his first start against Crewe, but he too will most likely be on the bench against Palace.

Attack

Aston Villa striker Wesley, who scored his first goal for the English side last week, was not involved in the Crewe game, but is expected to return to the Aston Villa lineup against Crystal Palace.

Right winger Jota, who had a great game against Everton, and played against Crewe, will start on the right, while Trezeguet will start on the left side, replacing Anwar El Ghazi on the left-hand side for the Lions.
