Abraham Gets 9: Chelsea Player Ratings vs Norwich City

Chelsea picked up their first win under Frank Lampard after beating Norwich City 3-2 at Carrow Road earlier today.

Tammy Abraham bagged an early goal, only for the hosts to equalise through Todd Cantwell. Mason Mount then put the Blues ahead again, but in-form forward Teemu Pukki levelled the score for a second time before the break.

Eventually, it was Abraham’s excellent goal in the second half which proved to be the difference between the two sides. Here are our Chelsea player ratings from what transpired.

Chelsea player ratings vs Norwich City

Kepa Arrizabalaga 5/10

The custodian should have done better to stop Pukki from finding the back of the net. He was hardly tested in the second half.

Cesar Azpilicueta 7/10

Azpilicueta linked up well with the attackers and was industrious on the right. Could have done better for Norwich’s opener, but overall, had a good game and finished with an assist.

Kurt Zouma 6/10

He was troubled regularly, particularly by Pukki, in the first half. However, he imposed himself at the back after the interval and was more decisive.

Andreas Christensen 6/10

Just like Zouma, Christensen struggled before the break as Norwich pushed the Blues. Was calmer in the second half as Chelsea saw more of the ball.

Emerson Palmieri 7/10

The left-back was industrious and put in some good crosses into the box. Often went forward and stretched the Norwich defence, and managed to complete five dribbles in the game as well.

Jorginho 7/10

Recycled possession well, and also went forward on a few occasions. Mustered three successful tackles and had a pass completion rate of 89%.

Mateo Kovacic 8/10

He covered a lot of grass in the first half but was ineffective at times. After the interval, Kovacic looked like a player transformed. Was good going forward and managed six dribbles in the game.

Ross Barkley 5/10

Barkley was a late change for Pedro and although he tried to make his presence felt, his final product was missing as he managed five shots, most of which were blocked.

Christian Pulisic 7/10

Excellent in the first half, Pulisic made good use of his pace and caused problems for Jamal Lewis and Ben Godfrey. However, he faded in the second half, and was dispossessed four times in total.

Mason Mount 8/10

Mount was the engine room of most of the attacking endeavours of his side. He played a part in the opening goal of his side and then got on the scoresheet himself with a good goal.

Tammy Abraham 9/10

The young Englishman put in a dazzling performance as he notched up a brace from his two shots on target. Held the ball well, and played some neat flicks to find his teammates.

Substitutions

Olivier Giroud 5/10

Giroud replaced Abraham late in the second half.

Willian NA

The attacker came late on to replace Pulisic.

Marcos Alonso NA

He didn’t have much time to do anything of note.
