Chelsea and Norwich City lock horns in yet another exciting encounter in the Premier League this weekend.
The Canaries are fresh from a victory over Newcastle United, and will look to pile the misery on Frank Lampard’s side, who are still winless in the league.
The Blues lost at Old Trafford on the opening day, and were then held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Leicester City. They will look to get back to winning ways this weekend, however, their trip to Carrow Road will be anything but easy.
Daniel Farke’s men have carried the confidence of the last season to the top-flight and are a force to reckon with this season. They will be confident of taking something from this game against a struggling Chelsea side.
Here are three things they need to do to make sure they can keep Chelsea winless for another game week:
Get Pukki Involved
The Finnish international has made a sparkling start to his Premier League career. He scored a hat-trick against the Magpies last weekend, and also netted in his side’s trip to Anfield. His movement and natural ability to finish half-chances will be a real danger for Chelsea.
The Canaries, however, need to make sure that Pukki is not isolated in the game. It is easy for the hosts to try and sit back to frustrate Lampard’s side, but they have a genuine goal scorer in Pukki, and need to make sure that he is given enough chances to test Kepa Arrizabalaga in this game.
Playing around Pukki and feeding him constantly will be the key for Norwich to take anything from this game.
Keep Pulisic Quiet
Chelsea’s biggest creative threat remains their new signing Christian Pulisic. Though yet to score a goal, the American international has put in impressive performances in the last two games and on his day, can easily win Chelsea the game.
Farke will need the likes of Max Aarons and Tom Trybull to keep a close eye on the youngster and if he can be kept out of the game, Chelsea will surely struggle to test Tim Krul in Norwich’s goal.
The likes of Pedro, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham will also have to be kept in check, but it is Pulisic that can run away with the game and keeping him in check is sure to frustrate the Chelsea attack.
Pull Chelsea’s Midfield Out Of Position
Chelsea have a weak attack and a less than solid defence going into this game. But their midfield is truly world-class.
Lampard can use Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante as required, and the trio have done well to keep the engine running.
Their energy in the midfield keeps Chelsea’s defence from being exposed. But if Norwich City can pull the likes of Kante and Jorginho out of position, it will not only help the likes of Pukki and Emiliano Buendia test Chelsea’s backline but will also see them struggle to push the ball forward.
