Wolves in hot-pursuit of Serie A attacking ace: A smashing move in the offing

AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone is on the radar of Wolves, it has been reported.

The Italian giants are keen to sell Cutrone this summer to free up funds to sign Angel Correa and the Express & Star have reported that Wolves are in a great position to buy him.

Following their promotion to the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side dazzled with their fluidic attacking approach as well as resilient defence.

The Midlands outfit finished seventh in the league standings and to continue making progress, they must beef up their artillery adequately in the ongoing transfer window.

So far this summer, Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker have been their only notable permanent signings and Espirito Santo is expected to add a few more fresh faces for the busy season ahead where they will also take part in the Europa League.

The Birmingham Mail have stated that Cutrone could be available for around £20million, which means that Wolves need not break the bank to make him sign on the dotted line.

Career so far

Cutrone spent his initial years at AC Milan’s youth academy and paved his way into their senior side and emerged as an instrumental figure for the club in the 2017-18 season.

He scored 10 goals in the aforesaid campaign and blossomed well initially under the tutelage of former AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso.

Despite getting off to a bright start last season, he flattered to deceive as the season progressed and often appeared to be toothless upfront, a decline in form which might ultimately lead to his exit.

Having represented various youth sides of Italy, Cutrone made his international debut for Italy last year in March in their friendly outing against England.

More on the rumour

Apparently, the Rossoneri are desperately attempting to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations and by selling Cutrone, they would be able to generate some funds.

In spite of the fact that Cutrone is ready to fight for his place at AC Milan, Wolves could tempt him with the chance to play in the Europa League as Milan have been expelled from the same.

Why will he be an astute signing for Wolves?

Although Espirito Santo has Jimenez and Diogo Jota on his books, Cutrone will provide an exciting alternative to them if the Portuguese manager manages to back him well and get the best out of him.

The 21-year-old is a cunning attacker in the final third and knows exactly where the goal is. He offers an instinctive poaching threat and is a reliable asset for his side during the counter-attacks.

He has the mobility to move the ball quickly and apart from having the tendency to find the back of the net, he can also create an ample amount of chances for his teammates.

If his move to the Molineux Stadium materializes, he can provide an adequate physical presence for Wolves as he can also hold the ball well in the final third, which will be important to make his presence felt in the Premier League.
