Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Manchester United: Hernandez and Stevens to Start

Leeds United play their first match in pre-season tour in Australia against old rivals Manchester United on Wednesday at the Optus Stadium.

The Whites have played two pre-season games against York City and Guiseley, winning both matches.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have travelled with a 16-man squad to Australia, while another team is training back home in England.

Following their match against the Red Devils, Leeds will then take on against Western Sydney Wanderers, before returning to face Cagliari in Italy.

Leeds play their first match of the Championship on August 4 against Bristol City.

Here’s the predicted lineup of Leeds United for their game against Manchester United:

Goalkeeper

Veteran goalkeeper Kiko Casilla and 22-year-old Kamil Miazek are the two goalkeepers in Leeds’ squad to Australia, and it is the former who will start for the club against Manchester United.

Defence

Leeds lost one of their best defenders in Pontus Jansson recently which means that Bielsa will have to find a new partner to play alongside captain Liam Cooper. Cooper will be joined by Gaetano Berardi in the heart of the Leeds defence.

Barry Douglas will play at left-back, while last year’s right-back Luke Ayling did not travel to Australia, due to a knock, and Stuart Dallas will be the one who takes his place at right-back.

Midfield

Defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the last few weeks, will start at the base of midfield, while he could also move to a centre-back role if Bielsa decides to play a three-man formation.

Adam Forshaw will play ahead of him in midfield, while 19-year-old Jordan Stevens could play the central attacking role, playing in and around the striker and ahead of the two central midfielders in an advanced role.

Attack

Experienced winger Pablo Hernandez may start on the right, much like he did last season, while Jack Harrison – who has been brought in on loan for a second season – will continue to play on the left.

Kemar Roofe had a good 2018-19 season and he could be the striker that Bielsa chooses for the game against Manchester United.
