Perez done, Tielemans next: How Leicester City may line up with the new signings

Leicester City have completed the signing of Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United for a reported fee of £30million.

The attacker is the second signing the Foxes have confirmed this summer, following the arrival of defender James Justin from Luton Town.

Brendan Rodgers is off to a decent start in the transfer window, and the club are also set to rope in Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, it has been claimed by The Telegraph.

Perez and Tielemans would be two solid and proven signings, and we take a look at how the Foxes might line up come August.

Predicted Leicester City line-up for next season

Defence

Kasper Schmeichel is expected to be a regular custodian for Leicester yet again. For now, we presume that the central defensive pairing will once again be Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire, though it remains to be seen if any team will match Leicester’s demands for the latter.

Ricardo Pereira and Ben Chilwell are expected to be their regular full-backs. The duo are good at mixing caution with aggression and are key contributors at both ends of the pitch.

Midfield

If Tielemans eventually moves to the King Power Stadium this summer, it would be a massive statement of intent from Leicester City. In all likelihood, he is expected to operate from the middle of the park alongside Wilfred Ndidi.

While Tielemans would offer them mobility and creativity while going forward, Ndidi will do the dirty work in front of the defence and stop teams from attacking.

Meanwhile, James Maddison should be able to keep his place as the number 10. The 22-year-old managed 7 goals and 7 assists in the Premier League last season, and had an impressive beginning to life in the top-flight.

Attack

Perez could slot in the right-wing role, a position where he excelled under former Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez. He can offer support to Jamie Vardy from the wide areas, with the latter expected to feature regularly as the striker.

The thing with Perez is he can be used in a more central role as well, so he can replace Maddison or even Vardy if needed. Perez’s goals from the wider positions should additionally take the pressure off Vardy’s shoulders.

Demarai Grey should start on the left. The young attacker’s pace and guile will complement the rest of the attackers perfectly.
