Crystal Palace are looking for a striker, and have made a bid of around £14 million for the services of Russian star Fyodor Chalov.
As per Sky Sports, the Eagles are set to compete with some European heavyweights for the CSKA Moscow forward who had a stunning campaign personally last season.
Fyodor Chalov and his record
Born in Moscow, the 21-year-old broke into the senior side at CSKA Moscow in 2016 and has since managed to cement his place in the first team.
He took his game to the next level last season when he registered 15 goals and seven assists in just 27 league starts, which saw him win the Golden Boot.
Chalov’s impressive numbers saw him earn a couple of international caps as well, so it is no surprise that the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with him as well.
A natural finisher who loves to drop back and help in build-up play, Chalov is adept at creating chances for his side from outside the box but is at his best feeding off of through balls, frustrating even the best of defenders in the league.
Chalov is not too strong and is easily beaten in the air, but if he is used well, he could be a more than a decent player in the Premier League.
How will he fit in?
Hodgson was evidently unhappy with the strikers in his squad last season. He decided to bring in Michy Batshuayi on loan, and the Chelsea man registered five of the seven goals scored by Palace strikers last season.
Palace are without Batshuayi this season but have the likes of Alexander Sorloth, Connor Wickham and Jordan Ayew as options along with Christian Benteke, who has been out of form for over a year now.
While there is variety in these options, Hodgson can do with a natural goal scorer and Chalov fits that bill perfectly.
The Russian youngster will make the Eagles’ attack a lot better, with what he brings to their attack and at just £14 million, he could turn out to be one of the best deals of the summer in the Premier League.
